Spend a week painting on the beautiful Greek island of Skopelos. After a flight to nearby Skiathos or Athens, you will arrive by ferry at the pretty port of Skopelos Town. Here you will be met by the hotel’s minibus and taken the short distance to our hotel situated in a quiet, rural area just outside the town.
The Alkistis is a friendly, family-run hotel with spacious, apartment-like accommodation with kitchenette and balcony. The hotel has a large swimming pool with a swim-up bar. There is a supermarket next door, and the hotel runs a shuttle minibus service to the town several times a day.
On the first evening we will dine at the hotel, and subsequent evenings will be spent visiting some excellent tavernas.
After breakfast we will leave the hotel at about 10am each day and travel to a variety of inspiring painting locations, including one day spent in Skopelos Town with its multitude of churches, traditional buildings, and vantage points overlooking the harbour. Other locations may include the picturesque village of Glossa with its narrow, cobbled streets and old houses with wooden, painted balconies. On route we will stop off at the church of Agios Ioannis at Kastri, which has become one of the most famous sights in Greece.
We may paint at the seaside village of Panormos, or one of the many beaches scattered around the island. We will also travel inland and spend a day painting at a traditional village home.
There will be one free day for people to do as they please; lounge by the pool, continue painting, or even take a ferry to the beautiful nearby island of Alonissos.
Tuition will be relaxed and informal, and as the group will be small, everyone will receive plenty of individual attention.
