Spend a week painting on the beautiful Greek island of Ithaca. After a flight to Kefalonia you will arrive by ferry at the port of Pisaetos. Here you will be met and taken the short distance to our hotel situated in the quiet village of Frikes. The village is delightfully sleepy, with a lazy, very Greek air. Several tavernas, a couple of bars, a café or two, and a mini-market front the sea here, which doubles as the mooring place for a line of colourful fishing boats. With the mountain behind and green hills to either side, Frikes enjoys a very natural, unspoiled setting.
The Hotel Nostos is a friendly, family-run hotel that has a swimming pool, snack bar and its own restaurant serving delicious traditional dishes. On the first evening we will dine at the hotel, and on some of the other evenings we will visit a selection of excellent tavernas.
After breakfast we will leave the hotel at about 10am each day and travel to a variety of inspiring painting locations, including one day spent visiting the beautiful Kathara Monastery and the village of Anoghi. We will paint at the enchanting mountain village of Exoghi, with its single taverna, or at one of the many beaches scattered around the island. We will also travel to the small village of Kioni where colourful houses line the picturesque harbour.
Vathy, built along the sides of a lengthy fjord-like bay is the charming island capital, and has several lovely old buildings alongside its expansive waterfront.
There will be one free day for people to do as they please; spend a day at a beach, continue painting, or just relax by the pool.
Tuition will be relaxed and informal, and as the group will be small – maximum 8 people, everyone will receive plenty of individual attention.
The holiday is for painters of all abilities, whether you are a complete beginner, or a more experienced artist.
