Painting Holidays
Painting in Essaouira, Morocco
Essaouira, Morocco. October 2011
October 2011
We were based in the fascinating coastal town of Essaouira, full of colour and contrasts. Our hotel was a traditional riad built into the harbour walls. All of our rooms had sea views and there is a dining terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean below. All accommodation is en-suite. The service is excellent and the whole experience is one of calmness and tranquility.
The week included a day painting at the seaside village of Moulay Bouzerktoun whilst locals gathered seaweed on the rocks. Another trip took us to a camel market where we sketched the nomads dealing in camels, donkeys, goats and sheep.
This was a drawing and painting holiday for all levels of experience, from complete beginners to more experienced painters.
Our final evening and night was spent in the vibrant city of Marrakech.
Whilst in Morocco we had the full-time services of a local guide, Ali.
